Fashion Trends Predictions of 2015

A crystal ball, a deck of cards and an Ouija board...

In the remoteness of the night, under the full moon light and the stars bright light, a mystical soul is awakened; possessing I, whom now you shall call 'Cassandra Amethyst'.
In the middle of the chaos that is present on this Earth, one single question may be answered by me, as I hold the key to all of the future affairs that one may wonder or theorize about or into!
The girl in which my soul have haunted has a question in mind.

''What will be the future fashion trends of 2015?'' she asked with eager and furore.
''Well my dear, as I cast a magical spell, you shall look into this crystal ball and behold, as all will be uncovered to you for once and for-all'' I said .
 "For All That I Know
  For All That I Foresee
  Let My Powers Flow
  Let Them Into
 This Crystal Ball
 Let Them In
To Unveil The Answer
And Unmask The Truth" I chanted.

Death breathed life into the Crystal ball; with the death of the soul I was back in control. Before-me, was the crystal ball illuminating alongside the moonlight and the shining stars, as they all eliminated the darkness and brought about the light of the knowledge that I was about to witness...

Leather harnesses with bullet holes and bullets in rows.

Bondage inspired accessories are the means of what it seams the trends of 2015. Fetish and Bondage inspired looks will become a phenomenon of domination and damnation. As 'Fifty Shades of Grey' airs, we all shall witness the spark in these leather body bound harnesses which we will soon adore.

A silver chain replaces a crown or any purity that may come from any fresh flower or dead rose.

A metal head chain is going to become a regular companion of ours in the becoming year. A mystically tortured look will become the biggest trend of the year as piercings become yesterdays news with the invasion of these peculiar metal head chains, as they will be on everyone's tip of tongue and head for sure!

COCO ROCHA : The Most Stylish & Powerful Model of 2014

A girl with a unique name and a supernatural presence...

The queen of posing, with her elegant, perfect and calculated yet spontaneous moves. she has that striking and hypnotizing look in her eyes with a jaw line that has been made and defined by the Gods.

Taken from: Julien Macdonald's Instagram
CoCo RoCha is an odd beauty with an innate talent for synchronized and slick moves with the clicks and flashes of cameras. This gift of hers was nurtured by her background in ballet; which led her to create one of the greatest books in the history of fashion photography and that is 'Study of Pose'. The book is a collection of black & white photographs of CoCo RoCha's countless magnificent posses. This jewel of a book is a collaboration between her and the photographer Steven Sebring. Also, the Milk's gallery featured an arts exhibition based on this book with 3D printed models of the 1000 poses and other inspired artist work by the book.

Collage by moi and pictures are from: Coco Rocha's Instagram

She is Zac Posen's  close friend and go-to-model. She is always walking his catwalk and wearing his phenomenal gowns to the most prestigious catwalk worthy places, like The Oscars.
Here, in this picture, one is truly amazed at her high level of technique, as she works every angle of that mirror to deliver us a real masterpiece in her Zac Posen pale blue gown. This is the ultimate example of a powerful fashion duo between a designer and a supermodel.
Taken from: Coco Rocha's Instagram

CoCo has a career that any aspiring model would love, as she captivates us with her fragrance campaign 'Silhouette' by Christian Siriano. The campaign's images are bewitchingly graceful and dynamic all at the same time.

Taken from: Coco's and Christian's Instagram

With everything that CoCo has accomplished, there is one thing about her that I believe has lead her to this level of fame and success, and that is her blog Oh-So-Coco. Now, you may be wondering why? But as Occam Razor would say 'the simplest explanation is usually the right one'. Therefore, my simplest answer is that CoCo's ability to relate to us, is what made her one of the best models of our century,  dare I say?! From her weekly instalment of #SundayStories on her Instagram to her blog posts, CoCo manges to entertain us weekly with her quirky little behind the scene insights into the fashion world, as well as her life as a model. We get to connect with her as we read about the highs  and lows  behind all of the glamour of catwalks and photo shoots. CoCo's blog is what made her different from other models, as she wanted us to hear the voice behind those alluring pictures; her bewitching beauty and graceful walk.
The beauty that CoCo RoCha is, wants us to know that even a bed seemingly full of roses, still has some thorns.

Day to Night Glamorous Gothic Grunge Alternative Outfits

Who says everyday cannot be glamorous all the way?

Staying warm, comfortable and glamorous from the sun rise till midnight, can be done ohh so easily and I'm going to show you just how! Ohh and if you want to see those looks in motion watch the video on my YouTube channel avril vanes:

Viciously  Innocent: Damned With A Legacy & Doomed With Insanity.

Here, I wore a black and white striped body con dress with a bold silver zip (H&M) and under it I wore a tight black long sleeved top. Black tights are a staple for winter as they go with everything as well as keeping you warm (Primark). Off-course, to finish this look off, I have on my favourite leather lace-up combat boots (Primark).

Tip: when wearing a black and white outfit you can always introduce color through your jewellery (like what I did with the lilac ring and purple velvet chocker).

For jewellery, I have on this magnificent and yet creepy choker which I DIY'ed. The pretty bold black lace piece with the purple velvet ribbon, give the chocker a Victorian essence to it,  but the silver zombie hand pendent (Boutique) gives it that gory feel. I've also got on this native american man's head as a ring with silver and black tones (Republic), a silver and black heart ring (Claire's) and a silver ring with a pale lilac gemstone which I bought from a thrift store (Sue Ryder).

Unpredictably Ordinary: Redefining Normality With A Hint Of Obscurity.

In this look, I wore a striped green and black tight long sleeved top (H&M) with a black lace skirt (Republic). I've also added a thick black stretchy belt to snatch and define my waist even more (DIY'ed). As usual I wore my ever so comfortable grungy looking black combat boots (Primark) with my warm and thick black tights (Primark).

Tip: When experimenting with mixing patterns, try and mix the fabrics and textures of the clothing items as that can add a more interesting look to your outfit as it can turn your look from shabby to chic.

Now, for jewellery I kept it simple and minimal by wearing a couple of rings. I wore my owl silver ring (Claire's), a silver lock ring (Claire's) and a silver heart ring (Claire's).

Punk meets Pop: A Blast of Color & A Dose of Pop Art Makes Punk Even More Funky!

Here, I am wearing a black long sleeved dress with sheer and velvet polka doted panels. The sheer panels are what make the look edgy but the dots are what make the outfit versatile in that it can be worn day to night. I have on a black cardigan (Primark) and on top of it is this long black woolly coat (Republic). For tights I'm wearing: one thick pink tights and on top is this thin black pair of tights with the pretty rose pattern. This pattern makes the look softer and more feminine. The black combat boots finish off the look nicely.

Tip: layer jackets with hoodies or cardigans with one solid color or a set color scheme to make it more of a refined look without having a blast of different colors, because that can give off a messy unfiltered look.

For accessories, I only have on this spiked pearl silver necklace as it has character to be noticed but it is still some what understated so that it doesn't overwhelm the look.

Thrift and charity shopping haul

Neglected treasurers and dusty gowns are all found in a place where it is said to be forbidden and bound...

But, I off-course tested this place and found a paradise that is beyond comprehension and believe, where toys dance secretly at night and beautiful Victorian gowns have masquerades.

So this is my treasures from my hunt at many grubby thrift stores and charity shops. However, if you may wish, you can watch my haul on my YouTube channel avril vanes:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BchvcMpibjM&list=UUHE7Bv2FhrWDD2EXqjseEjA

A Victorian Victory:
This beautiful vintage Victorian silver mirror is from Sue Ryder. I instantly fell in love with this masterpiece of a mirror when I saw it; and the best part is that it was only £3.00. Now that's a good deal!

A Mystical Encounter:
I also bought this cute unicorn charm necklace from Sue Ryder for £2.00. This was a hand made piece of jewellery. Its simple but spectacular!

Dolly's Skirt:

Next, I went to RSPCA and found this navy blue felt circle skirt with adorable little bows and black velvet lines. This costed me only £3.99 and it is made by New Look.

Pandora's Box:
Collage and Pictures by moi
Finally, I came across this oriental styled jewellery box with this pretty wallpaper print on its inside. I had to get this captivating box with its seductive pattern and prints as it was just £1.99.

What are some of your thrift shopping gems?

Fall Lookbook Gothic Grunge Alternative

Coppery leaves swamp the streets as rain crashes and lightning strikes, a curse is placed by the gloomy ones and a blessing is heard from the sane ones.

This is fall at its best, with a bitter welcome from some but not all, as I off course made a tribute for autumn with a collection of outfits that I styled. You may wish to watch my look-book on my YouTube channel avril vanes:

Dragon's Den: Fiction never dies as dragons are in disguise! A truthful fairytale burning its flame even in the coldest days.

In this look, I wore a firey-red lace circle skirt (Primark) with a  DIY'ed black crop top under the black lace vest (Primark). I also wore black tights with sliver zip detail on the back (Primark) with my beloved black leather lace up combat boots (Primark). My black jacket with the leather sleeves (Primark) tops up my look and gives it a smart but edgy feel.

Tip: if you  wear allot of black clothing, you can always wear one bold coloured item to really brighten up the look and catch people's attention (just like what I did here with the red skirt, as it was the starting point of styling the look).

Now, when it comes to jewellery, I wore black lace necklace with a silver dragon pendent (Boutique).

Pins N' Needles: Natural wounds with artificial cures.

Here, I am wearing an olive green dress (Primark) which I DIY'ed with some recycled black, rose gold, silver and gold safety pins. Also, under the dress I wore a black lace vest (Primark) so that the pretty lace detail could appear through the dress's 'wounds'. I wore a pair of thick black tights (Primark) and my day to day black leather combat boots.

Tip: mixing metallics when accessorising is a great way to make a statement and be subtle all at the same time.

For accessories, I wore a gold necklace with a couple kissing (Super drug) and a vintage inspired necklace with green-turquoise circle pendent (Claire's). Also, I added a belt of crosses to snatch and snazz my waist (Primark).

Picture Perfection: Misconception and betrayal never looked this perfect before.

For this outfit, I wore a pink and grey flannel shirt (TK Maxx) and under it is a matching pale pink vest (Primark). The tight black skirt (Primark) is perfect for this look as it balances out the two patterns from the tights (Primark) and the shirt. But under these thin patterned tights is a thick nude pink pair of tights (Top Shop) and as always I am wearing my black combat boots.

Tip: layering tights of different textures, thickness, patterns and colors can add a great twist to your look.

For jewellery,  I added silver angel wings to the collar of my flannel shirt to keep it magical!

Victorian Rebel: Defying logic and time is a principle that can never be more allowed.

Here, I wore a Victorian styled black turtle-neck top (Top Shop) with a pair of black leather jeans with a blue undertone (Republic) and my go to black combat boots.

Tip: a mixture of two styles in one can make an interesting hybrid of a look ( just like here with the Victorian shirt and the modern edgy leather pants)

Now, for jewellery I wore a black leather chained necklace with a coffin pendent (Boutique), a cross bracelet (Republic) and two silver rings (Claire's). One ring is an old fashioned vintage inspired key and the other is a silver wing.

This is my interpretation of Fall, full of ill-logical, mystical and rebellious looks. What do your outfits say about Fall? Which outfit spoke to your soul?

Back to school lookbook Gothic Grunge Alternative

when the dream ends, your eyes are wide open but your mind is lost and your wardrobe is empty... or at least that's what you think.

It may be a dreadful sunny morning or a gloomy afternoon but you're

out of ideas and time is going by... Tick...Tock...Tick...Tock... But hold up! All you need is some inspiration and positivity to glam up your day; so here are some outfits I put together to help enlighten you on such a day! But for a bonus outfit watch my look-book on my YouTube channel (avril vanes): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWWH8i8SRVk

Deadly But Sweet:

A sugary treat can never be more Kawaii!

Here, I wore a bold skater dress (H&M) with the adorable cupcake pattern and the sassy lace choker. So when you're in doubt wear a dress with a bold pattern because that way you don't need to worry about layering clothes on or trying to build a look from scratch. A dress with a pattern is my go to look when I'm too tired to style multiple pieces of clothing but I still want to look pulled together and somewhat effortless. I wore a pair of pink converse shoes to keep the look casual.

I wore a bracelet (Claire's)  with cakes and sweets pendants as it matches the level of sweetness of the dress but I also wore two skull bracelets (Claire's, International) as they add an edge. The owl ring (Claire's) has black tones which fits the background color of the dress.

However with such statement piece of clothing you have to be careful of over accessorising as the pattern is the best form of accessory. Therefore, you must keep it simple and minimal at all times!

 Toxic Sea:

Simple was my idea but complicated became the exterior. A look that was inspired by a mystical mermaid.

This look is made up of basic pieces of clothing from the black vest (Primark) and black tight skirt ( Boutique). But this breasy long lacy black 'skirt' ( a dress originally, that I DIY'ed) with the silver pins on its sides, has a way of capturing attention and feeling magical but yet sinister at the same time. So add some Safety pins because they can transform any look to be more chic in seconds. For shoes I am wearing my ballerina black flats with little bows (Primark).

The laced up necklace with the pink pendent is a beautiful sight and it's away for me to introduce color to the look. I added a violet red lace trim to snatch my waist; making the look come a live.

Adding spikes to any look never harms and so I added this silver spiked bracelet (Republic). However, a look is never truly finished without a statement silver ring with black undertones, like my tribal ring here (Republic).

Casually mischievous:

If you're running out of time there is always a skirt to help you out!

Here, I wore a basic black tee (Primark) with my lace necklace and I paired it with a navy skater skirt (H&M). Skater skirts can save you, when you're having a bad fashion day as they look incredible with almost anything. But for some funk, I put on my black suspenders (Claire's), Ohhh yeah!

Also, I wore a pair of black ballerina flats (Primark) with little bows on them as they are comfortable, cute and classy.

This is a look that you can never do wrong by, but you can always add some extravagant jewellery to it and let it shine!

Best Taylor Swift Outfits Ever

No one can write better heartfelt hit songs like Taylor Swift and nobody can wear more memorable outfits like her! So lets go back in time and view some of her finest looks ever.

Collage by moi, photos from: Zimbo.com, imnotobsessed.com,
justjared.com
Who doesn't remember her Mini mosaic crystal royal blue dress by Murad? That dress set fire to the Billboard's Blue Carpet for sure. From the heart sheer panels on the back to its tight and form fitting sophistication on her slender body. The crème de la crème of it all was the soft pink lip, for sure.

Collage by moi, Photos from: sparkleonandwearbows.com
justjared.com
Next up, we have this Golden Goddess gown that made fashion history at the Grammys. From the back cut-outs to the sexy revealing chest cut-outs, this look couldn't be more royalty approved! Ohh and we cannot forget about the longer back that drags along taking space and status for others to kneel and bow down for this magnificent piece of a gown.

Collage by moi, photos from:
  www.celeb-diary.blogpost.com
www.modxchange.worpress.com
Now, to this elegant long black dress with the sheer provocative back. This stunning gown made her look like a super-model with its sexy slit at the back revealing her toned legs and beautiful strappy black heels. To top all of this off she put on her signature red lip.

Moving on to something more 'Red' and casual with her cream long sleeve lace top with its preppy collar and the sexy high-waisted black leather shorts. However the true star of the show was that glittery Red bass and velvet Red shoes! But wow her hair with its bounce and bangs was done to perfection for this electric look.

Collage by moi, photos from: eonline.com
tomandlorenzo.com
Another Grammys awards show and another extraordinary dress with a message of survivor and fighter with her armour inspired gown. The champagne dress covered with sparkling silver net, glowed and shone through to our hearts. This is high fashion done to perfection by keeping it casual with the short sleeves. The strong silver eye-shadow was the perfect combo with the soft pink lip to this bold and static look.

College by moi, photos from: tayswift.com

Now, moving along to something wonderful and magical, is this costume that screams 'parade' with a hint of 'Alice In Wonderland'. The comical hat, the sexy fishnets, the classic shorts to the mini-jacket with its circusy and parade elements combined; the whole look comes together to light up the show.

Collage by moi, photos from:fishwrapper.com
www.dailymail.co.uk
To something mystical and truly captivating with its pure and powerful aura is this silver embellished and flowy white dress. Topping all of this off is her old fashioned waves, paying omage to old Hollywood hair styles.
Short sexy mini dresses are Taylor's speciality and this long sleeved floral dress by Murad is the perfect example. The dress has a vintage aira with the way the flowers are drawn and the clear sequence covering the dress give it that much needed Hollywood glam.

Bling can look extremely tacky but Taylor makes it look classy with this crystal incrusted short silver dress. This little dress fits her like a glove and shows off her best assets, her killer long slender legs.

Best & Worst dressed at the Emmys 2014

Following the MTV VMAS disastrous fashion weekend is the Emmys tragic downfall of bad choices and mode. However, fear no more as I have discovered a few fashion prodigies amongst the  many failures and disappointments of the night.

Firstly, someone who ticked all of the boxes for a beautiful dress and impeccable make-up is Alexandra Daddario. The sandy dress with the lace piece on the side couldn't spell sexy more clearly, but it was still flirtatious by showing barely any skin, classy! But wow her bold lip worked wonders with this simply amazing gown and her best accessory was those striking eyes, for sure!
Moving on to Mayim Bialik and her persistence to keep topping the 'Worst Dressed' list, talk about consistency and determination, eh?! This dress is a mesh-mash between a Disney princess, the queen and a prom enthusiast joining up to design this gown, not a good collaboration at  all!
Now, here is Christine Baranski looking graceful with this classic navy blue long tight dress; she brought old Hollywood back baby! Her slender body looked amazing in this dress in all angles.
Next up is Kaley Cuoco looking 2 feet tall in this eye-blinding dress. She is one of the hottest sitcom starlet and this dress does her no justice at all and the clutch is so out of date with its color. The colors of the whole outfit are expired unfortunately.
One beauty queen who was lost in an ill-fitted, wrinkled and badly tailored dress is Christina Hendricks. However, on top of all of that, she committed the biggest crime in styling and that is over-accessorising, what a heart breaking sight of a fashion mishap indeed.
Lastly, we have got Lena Dunham in another awful gown, is anyone surprised? No, I don't think so! This dress feels like its trying to impersonate two people, with its casually smart upper half and an extended tutu  for the bottom half. Ohh Lena, when will you rise up in the clothing charts? But don't you worry as our hearts and prayers are with you and we all have faith that one day in the far far far future you will pull an outfit off!

Best and Worst dressed at the 2014 MTV VMAS Awards

Another awards show and new disasters and miracles were present at its red carpet; so I'm going to break down what went wrong for those rich but poor tasted celebs and off-course I'll let you know what made some of those outfits so great!

Now for the first time in history of all awards shows Miley Cyrus makes it to the 'Best Dressed' list but also tops it. Hawt! Miley finally gets it with 'more is less' memo as she wears a sexy two piece leather outfit and kills it! she kept it to the bare minimum when it came down to flashing some skin in her books anyway. But she looked stunning with the leather band top, which looked great against her pale complexion and pairing it with high waisted harem leather pants and that gave the vibe of 'the cool kid is here'. However the highlight of that outfit was the safety pin earring, it was the cherry on top indeed.

Bringing it back to a human level of a bad dress pick, will have to go  to BeyoncĂ©. B looked like a hot mess in this long black gown and ohh we can't forget those awful oversized dangled earrings that looked like frog feet, poor thing. But Oh oh oh oh oh oh no no, B looked 2X bigger in this dress which is something almost impossible to achieve with a black coloured anything. This is a true fashion meltdown, get it together girl!

Someone who doesn't always get it right or right enough is Kendall Jenner but since there is virtually no other good looks we've got to give her some credit for looking 'okay' and not as bad as everyone else. Black outfits seam to be the winning looks from the VMAS and kendall looked  simply chic with this all in one jumpsuit.
Saving worst for last, we've got Katy Perry and her man. Denim couldn't look more horrendous in so many different ways than this. This is a complete and utter disaster that I'm surprised they didn't get convicted for their preplanned crime of fashion!

These are some honourable mentions of bad clothing choices:
